Marga van der Vet is a model, blogger, and seamstress.Bored Pandagot in touch with her to find out more about what she does. Marga shared that she started making Chanel-style jackets for herself and reviewing sewing patterns a few years ago. She also enjoys creating medieval, cosplay, and historic costumes. “I love working together with photographers and creating extravagant clothes for model shootings,” she added.
Marga’s costumes are not quick-sew or “an hour” dress projects, so it takes a considerable amount of time to create them, especially the Chanel-style jackets. “But as soon as I know what it takes to create it, I am very fast. I recently made seven Victorian, Gothic, and medieval ruff collars in just 4 days.”
Marga enjoys every second of costume-making. “I am very proud if the photographers are creating art to make a beautiful picture with myself as a model or another model. In this time of fast fashion, everybody is wearing jogging pants and elastic fabrics. It is very nice and rewarding to create costumes that represent the past, the love for the fabric, the love for the sewing process, and the art of wearing it to an event, fair, or a photo shoot.I do not wear my hats, costumes, and corsets in normal life. But I hope I can create some sort of ode to the past when people were proud of their clothes, cherished them, and sustainability was a lifestyle before it became a modern word.”
