This project has existed for several years now, changing its exhibits and locations. The author remains the same.
Some time has passed since the beginning of the terrible events in Ukraine. During this time, many cities, including Halyna’s, suffered from the bombing, which began early in the morning, from 4 to 5 am. Although her memories of fear and stress have been largely erased, Galina, like any other Ukrainian woman, faced a difficult decision: whether to leave her home or stay.
Now Galina is in evacuation far away from home, but continues active creative work in Poland. She organizes exhibitions and continues her personal creative practice.
Continuing on with the collages:
The collages are created on a black and pale background, which is not a random choice. The black fawn represents a small, defenseless animal that has lost its strength and symbolizes a child who does not understand what is happening in the world. The fawn may be almost invisible in the collage, representing a smudge or shadow, but it is there. It serves as a symbol of something we often choose not to see or recognize unless it is within our grasp. It emphasizes our tendency to separate ourselves from others, but even when we close our eyes and cover ourselves with a blanket, there are still people struggling, suffering, and losing loved ones.
