Despite being known as our best friends, some dogs are not treated kindly; they are kept alone in cages and put through painful tests. Every year, almost 65,000 dogs go through these tough situations in U.S. labs. Dora, a sweet beagle, was one of them, but thankfully, she found a loving home.

Not long ago, all that identified Dora was a number tattooed on her ear, as she went through scientific experiments
Dora had no experience with living in a family
She had never been outdoors before. Dora has lived her whole life inside one building
Luckily, Dora’s story took a heartwarming turn when she was taken into the care of the One Tail at a Time organization in Chicago
One Tail at a Time, located in Chicago, is a no-kill rescue that assists numerous families in discovering their new beloved companion through adoption annually.
They put her in a foster family, and there Dora learned to trust people, handle the outdoors, and all the things a good dog should know
Luckily, Dora’s temporary caretaker was really helpful in making her feel better and do well. Then, someone else took Dora to get spayed, but they got attached to her and decided to keep her forever because they fell in love with her.
The story of the adorable dog melted the hearts of Laura Sivy Wolbrink and Luke Wolbrink

“Luke and I had already been following her story, and it definitely melted our hearts. You can see how she’s flourished in being truly comfortable,” Laura shared withthe Dodo.
They were transporting Dora to her spay appointment and ended up falling in love with her and couldn’t let her go
Dora started out being very anxious and nervous about a lot of things
Now, she’s eager to meet anyone and anything
“I think something that I’ve loved about her since we’ve gotten to know her is that she’s always eager to meet new people and things, even though she used to be really anxious and nervous. Now, you can see how she’s genuinely comfortable, just enjoying cozy cuddles and living her happiest life. It’s all about her gaining confidence and not being scared anymore.”
Dora is now with her forever family and has grown into a happy, well-adjusted beagle. It’s amazing what love and patience can do!
