Asking nicely didn’t help and the driver refused to move, pointing to his hazard lights as if they were some kind of magical parking shield.
But this homeowner wasn’t about to let the driver’s arrogance ruin their day. If the driver could inconvenience others, why not return the favor? With a dash of creativity and a sprinkle of petty revenge, they took a position in the street, blocking the van’s only forward exit, and simply…stopped.
As the delivery driver was getting ready to leave, he realized the tables had turned. To pass, the van would need the OP to back up a few meters. Easy, right? Except the homeowner had a different idea. With their engine off and hazard lights flashing in true ironic fashion, they stayed put, forcing the driver to do the one thing he clearly hated: reverse.
The delivery driver’s expression apparently morphed from mild annoyance to volcanic rage as he realized he’d have to back up for over 300 meters, yelling profanities the entire way. It was a masterclass in passive-aggressive triumph, and the homeowner couldn’t help but grin from ear to ear.

We wanted to know how the driver reacted when he was initially asked to move. The poster told us that the driver didn’t care about their request, pointing to the blinking hazard lights, suggesting he was entitled to leave his car there and deliver the packages to the restaurant.
We asked the poster if this was the first time a delivery vehicle had blocked their driveway, or if this has been a recurring issue in the neighborhood. The poster explained that, although it was not the first time their driveway had been blocked, they didn’t really mind until that day, as they urgently had to leave the house.
“In my neighborhood people tend to park wherever they think they can park, it’s wild. Yet everyone gets along with it as people make sure they won’t block traffic,” the poster added.
We also wanted to know what the poster was thinking when they decided to block the delivery driver’s van. They told us that they considered waiting until the driver had finished the delivery, since there was no way to exit the driveway with their car, but eventually decided to teach him a lesson.
“When he eventually wanted to move and directed me to back up (back onto my driveway, I was standing partially on the street already) I had this flash of wit and just turned off the engine and turned on the hazard lights. Quid pro quo.”
