When asked about a typical day when the artist is working on a new comic, Denis commented: “Writing out an idea maybe takes the most time but the least amount of effort. I’ll usually write out a rough outline of the joke and then it takes a day or two off and on of editing to plan its layout. From there it takes me a day or two on my iPad to draw it. The longest part is always the preparation.”
Every artist has bad ideas once in a while, therefore, we were wondering if Denis has ever scrapped a comic idea after starting it.“Yeah pretty often. When I first started drawing comics I’d draw everything I came up with and was rarely happy with the result. Nowadays, if I lose steam on an idea, I have less of a hard time abandoning it. Sometimes a joke or idea can seem great at first, but as you work on it I realize that it’s not as good, the initial laugh it gives wears out,” shared the artist.Lastly, Denis added: “Baker Street is peak rock saxophone. Salt and vinegar chips are trash. Travis Bickle is cringe.”
