Bored Pandareached out to the creator behind ChickenPupPie comics to learn more about their creative process. We were curious to know how the artist got started in creating comics. “I’ve always enjoyed drawing,” they replied. “I did freelance work making children’s books for a time but got burned out working on long projects of other people’s stories. The webcomics have been fun because they’re short and something all my own, it’s just something I do in my spare time but it’s been something refreshing.”
While we love reading about these cute pups, we’re curious why the artist picked dogs as the main characters. They mentioned there isn’t a specific reason for it. “Dogs are just cute and their ears are fun to draw. They do lightly represent my husband and me, but it’s definitely not 1:1 based on real life. Some stories come from our everyday life, dumb jokes we’ve heard, games we’ve played… Ideas can come from anywhere, really.”
For the artist, the best part of being creative is forming connections with others and sharing what they’ve created. “Hearing from readers and meeting other artists who share the same passions is wonderful, the sense of being part of a community and feeling like you’re contributing to it.”
