“These little 4-panel comics actually absurdly reflect many situations from my life. Now I always have to smile when I reread my new comics and I hope to make other people smile or laugh too and bring a little joy into their everyday lives.”

We asked the artist to describe his creative process. Simon shared that sometimes ideas just pop into his head. “Sometimes nothing comes to me for days - but I write down every little idea, even if I wake up in the middle of the night - with a pen and piece of paper at the ready. I then write them down, get them into shape (suitable for 3-4 pictures), and start drawing, without a sketch because I’ve noticed that simpler drawings that don’t look ‘perfect’ are even funnier. When I catch myself grinning while I’m drawing, I know that I’m on the right track.”

“I just try to tell absurd but somehow heartwarming funny little stories. When I notice that other people find my comics funny it makes me incredibly happy. Sometimes I even get personal messages where someone tells me that one of my last comics brightened their day - things like that make my day.”
