Pursuing a creative career isn’t always a walk in the park, so we invited the artist to share the struggles encountered in the realm of comic creation. For Aidee, the most challenging part is trying to find the time and energy to draw everything desired. “There are many stories I want to tell, but there’s never enough time to pursue them all.”
When asked about the aspects of creating comics that Aidee enjoys the most, the artist shared: “Have you ever had a really messy room and cleaned it? Like not just putting everything away in the right place, but also just getting rid of all the stuff that you no longer need? That’s what it feels like to make a comic for me. I get to unclutter my brain. It feels liberating to get my ideas on (digital) paper.”
We asked Aidee if there are any special moments or important milestones in the journey of being a comic artist that stand out. “Every October I do a horror series called Horrorween. It’s usually a culmination of a year long’s worth of writing and drawing. It feels great to work on something larger and more intricate than my usual comics.”
