Infographics have been around for quite some time. While there are some ancient drawings and sketches that might fit the bill, the first “proper” infographics date back to the16th century. In this particular case, it was ahelpful(at least to some) graphic depicting the movement of the sun in the sky.Later, the art of the graph and bar chart expanded with William Playfair’sThe Commercial and Political Atlas, which depicted the economy of England. Interestingly, he is also considered theinventorof the pie chart in general.
