“There are many reasons a celebrity might block a ‘regular person’ on social media. But the one thing people tend to forget is that celebrities are people, too,” Nick Mattar toldBored Pandain a recent interview.“The only difference is that they live their lives under a microscope for all to see and critique. When a celebrity sees something they find objectionable or they otherwise don’t want to see, they may block the user regardless of their status as a ‘regular person’.”

Discussing the significance of the role social media plays nowadays,Nick Mattarpointed out that it is as important as we make it. “For people like myself, it’s important because it is a major tenet of my career. But for most people, social media fills one of two roles: a form of entertainment or a vehicle to connect with others.”Asked if he agrees that people nowadays tend to blow certain minor things seen on social media out of proportion, the expert emphasized that everyone has different opinions on what is “minor” and what is “major” in our society today, but that there are specific topics today at the forefront of our news cycle because of how social media has amplified their relevance.

But we now live in a time when an entire generation of celebrities are famous because of social media,” N. Mattar told Bored Panda. “As a result, social media will always play a different role in their lives because they have seen first-hand the impact it can have on a person. Whether that is a good or bad thing, however, depends on the individual celebrity.”
